Wetlands Permitting Specialist

 
Position: Wetlands Analyst/Permitting Specialist
Location: Southern California, Rosemead, LA Basin


Orion Managed Services, LLC is hiring wetlands analysts/permitting specialists. This is a full-time position. Some overtime and weekend work may be required. Successful candidates will have 3 to 7 years of experience with wetlands assessment and analysis and California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) 1602 Streambed regulations, Clean Water Act 401 certifications, and Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) Nationwide permits and/or 404 Individual permits. Prior experience with gas and/or electric utilities and conducting wetlands delineations is desirable. Applicants should also have experience that includes a combination of most or all of the following: performing biological baseline or pre-construction surveys, biological monitoring, post-construction mitigation monitoring and reporting; CEQA and NEPA document preparation; and environmental permit support.

Responsibilities:
  • Wetlands impact analysis
  • Assessment of potential project impacts
  • Review of wetlands assessments/delineation reports
  • Permit application development oversight and review
  • Project tracking and reporting

Requirements:
  • At least 3-years prior experience and demonstrable proficiency conducting wetlands analysis, permitting, and compliance activities
  • 4-year degree in biology, natural resources, or related field
  • Familiarity with wetland indicators and state/federal permitting requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to resolve problems and to work with stakeholders
  • Competence with laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Microsoft Office
  • Driver’s license
  • Experience driving off-road and with 4-wheel drive vehicles
  • Ability to travel, work outdoors in inclement weather, and to hike and walk over rough terrain in mountainous areas
  • Ability to pass a preemployment background check and drug screening
  • Ability to work occasional overtime and weekends

Desired:
  • Master’s degree in biology, natural resources or related field
