Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Compliance Specialist

 
Position: Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Compliance Specialist
Location: Northern California, San Francisco Bay Area


Orion Managed Services, LLC is hiring hazardous materials and waste management specialists. These are full-time positions. Some overtime and weekend work may be required. Successful candidates will have 1 to 7 years of hazardous materials and waste management compliance and materials manifesting experience. Candidates will be familiar with RCRA, CERCLA, DTSC, DOT and EPA requirements related to hazardous material waste generator documentation and reporting requirements. Prior experience preparing waste manifests is a plus.

Applicants should have a combination of experience that includes most or all of the following: Waste manifest preparation, chain-of-custody logs, hazardous material classification and reporting, compliance reporting, waste manifest tracking and regulatory filings and annual reporting. Some interaction with agency representatives may occur.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct waste manifest quality assurance and quality control reviews
  • Conduct gap closure and records reconciliation
  • Data entry and compliance database management
  • Reporting
  • Regulatory filings
  • Some interaction with agency representatives may occur

Requirements:
  • At least 1-year prior experience and demonstrable proficiency conducting waste manifesting, hazardous materials classification, and compliance activities
  • 4-year degree in chemistry, geology, engineering, biology, natural resources, or related field
  • Driver’s license
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Competence with laptops, tablets, smartphones, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to resolve problems and to work with stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass a preemployment background check and drug screening
  • Ability to work remotely or at client site as work requires
  • Ability to work overtime and occasionally to work weekends

Desired:
  • Master’s degree in chemistry, geology, engineering, biology, natural resources or related field
