Parker, CO – Alex Cates, Orion Managed Services, LLC. has been elected to serve on the Board of Trustees for the National Small Business Association (NSBA) for 2023. NSBA is the nation’s oldest small-business advocacy organization and operates on a staunchly nonpartisan basis. Mr. Cates, a recognized leader in the small-business community brings his talents to the national level in promoting the interests of small business to policymakers in Washington, D.C.

“I look forward to working with NSBA in the coming years to ensure small business has a seat at the table,” stated Cates, “It is critical that Congress and the administration do everything in their power to support small businesses, who collectively employ nearly 50 percent of our nation’s workforce. Small business is the backbone of the economy, and we need to have appropriate representation.”

Cates is a Texas A&M College of Architecture graduate who started out in the architectural design space. He moved into the environmental contracting field in 2004 and spent nine years in the professional services industry as a senior partner supporting national and multinational industrial clients as a global service and area operations leader. He and his business partner launched Orion in 2020 to provide clients with environmental, health, and safety services (EH&S). Within the EH&S space, Orion also provides capital project delivery services.

Cates has been active with NSBA for several years and in his current capacity has represented small business issues in Colorado, California, Idaho, and Texas. In addition to the leadership role with NSBA, Cates is active in various local and regional organizations and has been an outspoken advocate for small-business issues with his elected officials.

Betty Canzona brings over 25 years of corporate accounting, audit and consulting experience with public and privately held corporations in the oil condition monitoring, online consumer retail, technology, distribution and manufacturing industries.

As Accounting Manager, Betty oversees the overall accounting and financial reporting for Orion Managed Services and assists the executive leadership team in increasing operational efficiency. Additionally, her attention to detail and analytical skills give support to company-wide programs and projects.

For fun she enjoys traveling, skiing and spending time with family.

Mr. Damon Beeman has recently joined Orion Managed Services as a Senior Data Analyst. He provides Information management services, project and program support and data and records administration to our clients. Damon has over 25 years’ experience in the telecommunications/construction industries providing support for project controls, environmental, database management, site acquisition, and finance. Damon lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and loves traveling with his wife, enjoys painting, model building and wood working.

Mr. Clement is Orion’s GIS Database Architect and Quality Assurance Manager and will be supporting Orion through data analysis and automation.

His experience includes more than 25 years in the computing industry working with both hardware and software including 16 years managing a county GIS department. Ben has a history of creating solutions by integrating hardware, software, and data in such a way as to allow unique insights and provide for data-driven actions.

​Before working in the tech industry, Mr. Clement worked in construction and maintenance. While some view his experience as disjointed, Ben has found that craftsmanship, critical thinking and an understanding of how systems work by knowing how they are put together, serve a person well no matter the situation.

Mrs. Denise Bonghi is the Program Manager for Orion Managed Services Utility and Field Services programs. Denise will provide day-to-day leadership and management of Orion’s large projects and capital programs. Denise has over 25 years’ experience in the construction/environmental consulting industries, providing technical and program management leadership in support of large utility, oil and gas, and infrastructure programs. Denise has a proven history of collaborating with leadership in all aspects of business including safety and compliance, finance, project controls, labor relations, risk, and contracts management. Denise lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoys traveling, music, art and is an avid movie buff. Denise and her husband enjoy caring for their rescue dogs Dimples, Kramer, Chloe, and Smokey, the cat that adopted all of them.
