Project Background

​One of the nation’s largest private equity investors identified 5 wineries for acquisition in the Napa Valley of California. The investor identified wildfire and seismic hazards as potential financial risks to be assessed prior to underwriting and acquisition.

Scope

​Orion staff conducted desktop reviews of facility engineering documents, prior wildfire activity, proximity to high threat wildfire districts, fuel loads and residual risk, claims, and prior fire and seismic impacts in the region. Staff also conducted site assessments and evaluated facilities against best management practices for mitigation of fire and seismic risk. Engineering and operational controls were also assessed against reasonable and prudent practices to mitigate threats. Gaps and mitigations were identified.
